![]() We made a day of it by exploring the local neighborhood and beach area of Corona Del Mar. You could probably spend an hour-and-a-half if you did a quick self-guided visit. Combining the tour, lunch, wandering, reading displays, taking photos and visiting the gift shop, we spent approx 4 hours at the gardens. We came for a birthday and dined at the restaurant which was excellent. It's not the largest garden and it's not going to be the first thing you'll visit if you're a tourist, but it's a lovely day trip for locals in the Southern California region. If you look on their website, the garden offers so much more including classes, events, garden parties, festivals, summer camps, art displays, weddings, lectures, plant shows and programs for kids. In the back is the library which has limited hours and wasn't open the day we were there. Oh and don't forget 'Gnomewoodland'! The gift shop was large, but we all agreed could have been so much more.Ī small building (originally a house) contains some historical photos, etc. The beach is also popular with surfers and divers. The half-mile long sandy beach is framed by cliffs and a rock jetty that forms the east entrance to Newport Harbor. There are a few ponds, an indoor conservatory, a succulent garden, many varieties of beautiful colorful flowers, a gift shop and a restaurant. Safety Tips Corona del Mar State Beach is a popular place for swimmers. ![]() I finally called Paradiso yacht charters and this really kind woman Kathy answered the phone. said 'We were desperate and trying to find a boat that could go for three hours instead of only two. The docent wasn't terribly dynamic, but it was better than wandering around aimlessly. Paradiso Yacht Charters 385 3.7 miles away from Corona del Mar State Beach Marina L. Within a few minutes of arriving, we were lucky enough to catch a volunteer docent-led tour which helped to point out names of things, reasons behind certain displays and a little bit of history of Sherman Library & Gardens. We parked in the adjacent lot (or there's street parking), paid at the booth ($5, Spring 2023) and entered into a floral and fauna wonderland. (Really just the gardens since the library was closed). We drove an hour-and-a-half to visit Sherman Library & Gardens in Corona Del Mar, near Newport Beach.
